Question #1:

What would happen if an object, e.g. a meteor, were to collide with the earth at or beyond the speed of Light?

I realize this is the primary question of the LHC, but what what would you expect are the practical ramifications of such an impact?

The size of the object would not matter I suppose, since at the speed of light an object becomes infinitely massive.

Would a a black hole be created? Would it be like a Star Trek '09 "red matter" event that would consume the planet, or would the black hole evaporate before anything happens?
Let me qualify this by saying that I know full well that the speed of light cannot be reached by an object with mass, this is just a theoretical exercise, a what if scenario.

Question #2:

the blu ray player on my ps3 is messing up. any help would be appreciated?

Ok so i got my 160gb ps3 in february. its been working fine with games and so on, but a couple months ago, i watched my first blu ray movie on it. for some reason, the ps3 wouldn't recognize the movie and i thought it was the movie that was messed up because the disc looked like it had some kind of cleaning solution on it. anyways, yesterday, i got star trek on blu ray and attempted to play it. like before, the ps3 had a hard time recognizing it, and when it did, the movie played but kept skipping making it very irritating to watch. i was told to turn the blue ray live thing off but that didnt help either. what should i do? and i also bought mine at walmart with a warranty. where would i have to send the playstation to get fixed?

Question #3:

New Star Trek movie, is it me or does it just not gel with the past?

I have long been a watcher of Star Trek but not a "Trekkie" I hasten to add. I have a great deal of difficulty resolving the past episodes, with the new Star Trek movie. They seem to be asking us to believe that the technology went from futuristic super tech with the young Kirk, Spock, Scott, McCoy,etc to suddenly taking a backward step to the technology depicted in the 60's series with the older Kirk, Spock, Scott, McCoy,etc. Where is the continuity? It should have been an inferior technology to the 60's series to be accurate in the timescale. It's a bit like "Red Dwarf" when in the first episodes Lister always regretted never asking Cochanski out yet in later episodes he said he dated her for 6 weeks. I know it's only a show but I can't be bothered watching if there is glaring discrepancies. I for one won't be watching the "Star Trek" movie.

MMORPG Internet speed requirement.?

I am new to MMORPGs. I currently have DSL with 1.5 MB download. Is this enough for games like World of Warcraft or the new Star Trek Online? I read somewhere that latency is more of an issue than bandwidth. All info on this would be appreciated. Thanks!!

That Would be a whole lot creepier than some evil alternate Universe episodes on Star Trek and The Justice League. I would also like to see other evil alternate universe versions of The Simpsons characters as well.

i guess this is just because i grew up watching Star trek but did the fact that the inside of the Enterprise look way to much like a factory or a dairy plant to let you acctually enjoy it 100%

i have a digital copy of Star Trek. i got it downloaded into itunes but when i try to sync it onto my ipod it says that it didn't sync because i'm/my latop is not authorized to play it. what do i need to do to get it on my ipod?

Have stories of vampires, werewolves, and other monsters supplanted space adventures in books and movies?

Twilight, Ginger Snaps, Warlock, Harry Potter, etc, have been all the rage for nearly 10 years. It would seem that space adventures like Star Wars, Star Trek, Blake's 7, Dr Who, etc are few and far between. Have such lost their appeal? Why hasn't there been even one new series or movie that captures interest the way Star Wars did?
That's just the point. Most are very lame and nothing as good as the originals. Then there are no new ideas either.

Well see when I watched Star Trek my favorite character was Scotty, and in this one episode he wore his grey Scottish kilt for making some sort of diplomacy with alien foreigners, along with Kirk, and Spock (who wore the diplomatic uniform). And since tartans back then didn't get to the Lowlands until the 17th century or 16th century (where the Scotts were a border clan and had territories in the Lowlands), I was wondering if the Scott's Grey tartan sett was one of the most oldest tartans.

Just wondering.

I have only been into it for a month, starting with a fondness for Data of The Next Generation, and moving back to look at TOS.

So I am well obsessed, I like how Star Trek managed to slip in insightful social commentary in an era when Network pressure made it impossible. Also how it was the first show to really have a multi-ethnic cast without stereotypical roles.

Anyone else into it? Or not?
