Will we ever really explore space or is it all just science fiction?

Do you think in time will will concur space and be it a little cliche go where no man has gone before into the galaxies and worlds beyond.

Do you thing shows like Star Trek, Star Gate and other Space traveling TV shows (maybe minus the weird and wonderful aliens - Or maybe not??) will ever be a part of our lives in reality. Or is it just hopeful thinking.

NB. I know there is a problem with fuel and distance and not being able to carry enough fuel to travel very far.

Yes but in a long long time, because we seem to prefer using money to kill each others than to explore new worlds

well, apparently, in the future - like 500 years into the future, it will be OK to split infinitives, because Captain Kirk said humans are destined “to boldly go” .

And i guess it’s OK to be sexist in the future too, because feminists would piss and hiss if you said “where no man has gone before”.

The observable universe is getting smaller and smaller, and even if you ignore the time it would take to develop the space armies, special relativity implies that the conquerable universe is even smaller than this, and also getting smaller.

It might be the case that two races spend so long building up their armies that the space between them expands to the point where they lose contact forever.

I would advise humans stick to defence rather than offence.

I think it’s very possible. Without the aliens of course. But finding life on other planets, like bacteria =P. We have a satellite that is outside the solar system right now. It runs on special solar panels that takes in all colors of the spectrum, not just orange, which our residential solar panels do. I think the problem lies not in the fuel, but in feeding the humans for their lifetimes (assuming they won’t turn back to Earth) and their offspring. I think the humidity of the spaceship can be recycled into drinking water–as well as our piss; they have that technology right now.

You’re right though, the thought is awesome.

Considering how rapidly we’ve advanced in recent years in terms of technology I would beleive almost anything is possible.

During my mothers time “computers” were poorly paid women sitting in dark rooms with aching backs and eyestrain.:&tbnh=74&tbnw=135&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dhistory%2Bof%2Bwomen%2Bin%2Bastronomy%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den

I think once we can build a big fusion reactor for power, it would become practicle to build a large arc type spaceship and send it great distances. That should obviously start with colonizing the solar system, but I do think we’ll eventually travel very large distances.

Here’s a wild idea. When the Milky Way galaxy collides with Andromeda in a long while, it might result in some stars being flung away at high speed. A large space station could be placed in orbit of one of those stars for an easy ride WAY out.

We’re -already- exploring space. And we’ll continue to do so. Perhaps not ever to the level seen on ‘Star Trek’, but to whatever level our technology will allow us.

I hope that we -do- someday achieve ‘Star Trek’ levels of technology. But the laws of physics may be stacked against us and we’ll just have to do what we can.

i think that to truly go were ‘no man has gone before’ we will have to travel to a planet that we didn’t know about before not just mars. assuming that nothing prevents us from expanding out knowledge at our current rate of expansion in the future i think that we will be able to build a rocket that can go at the speed of light and go ‘were no man has gone before’

the rocket that can go near the speed of light is essential though if we find out it cannot be done then us traveling outside our own solar system is doubtful ( but don’t worry because so far there is no evidence to suggest that traveling near the speed of light should not be possible)

  9. Encantadia Says:

    Yes,

After the raging technologies people invents, we can built a technology that can travel to galaxies and worlds beyond. Exept it could be a very long time to built one.

If we build one, that technology is OUT OF THIS WORlD!!!!!!!!!!!!

We will eventually solve the problem of age and nutrition as being the limiting factor for human space exploration. We have the basic science in place to start a serious effort at laying the ground work for extending the useful human life span, significantly. However, are religion and our traditions, along with a host of other unfounded fears, keep us from do this. There are likely to be at least 2 maybe 3 different ways to potentially extend human life. How we can even consider space exploration without first mastering our own biology, just boggles my mind. If it was possible, and current science suggest that it might be, to extend human life not just once, but perhaps many, many times—it opens the door to simplfying and solving a lot of space travel problems.

We’ve already ‘put a toe in the ocean’ by going to
    the moon.
For historical perspective, consider that the Norse
knew of the ‘New World” for centuries before anybody
started going there on anything like a regular basis.
Right now , it’s not just fuel and energy constraints.
We simply couldn’t last long enough to get very far.
If we survive, … we’ll get out there eventually.
As to Sci Fi…. It’s fiction. The reality will probably
    look quite different.

  12. Animals Rock Says:

well in a million years or so
but you know that space is growing. So even if we explore all of space the next day there will be more of it.
I think that space doubles its size every second or so
Also I think humans have taken the first step already.

  13. JOHNNIE B Says:

U don’t need that much fuel . If we accelerate to 50,000 mph we could cut our motors and cost there. The distances are so great that 10 generations could pass.
