What is the first love poem you ever wrote and then shared with that person?
I see love poems posted here all the time, and I wonder well if you shared it, how did that work out for you? Please share the poem and the results (if you like).
Here’s my first love poem ever that I gave to the woman who became my wife (so it worked out for me). I know it isn’t that long, but I wasn’t used to writing love poetry.
Dark Waters
In the feeling, there is the risk
that we might feel.
To slip beyond touch, the light
caress, to drown in dark waters
beyond knowing
Where words become redundancies.
Where thoughts slow…slow…
Stop.
In the stillness of the moment there is peace.
As the waves retreat,
carrying us beyond our shores.

Woven into the rhythm of my heart you dwell
Souls harmonize the angels song of one
Haven of love, sacred and blessed
The lyrics of rapturous delight of which they tell
Play the night and day of birth and rebirth
Joining and melting for the eternal
Alive in living the life of certainty
The cloth of splendor worn in perpetual mirth
Kaleidoscopic visions color the white of the soul
Love unfolding, holds the universe
Sharing the glory of ultimate joy
The multicolored array of oneness completes the whole

i would never share a poem with anyone,
let alone the object of its affections
and affectations.

My first attempt at any poem was a short rhyme for my fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Wright. She had been out sick and when she returned, I wrote the following.
I’m glad to see you back today,
I hope you’re feeling bright and gay.
The results from that little sentiment got me ‘pet’ status for the rest of the year. That was when I realized that my father was not the only person who loved rhymes.

Well,I have a dark story.Actually i wasn’t into writing when i had the the person in my life n started writing only wen i did lose him. So,i write in his remembrance………..
You have already read those poems. But let’s share it once again -
Several years have passed by,
But i still think of you.
Our confabs made me shy,
For my emotions were true.
Oh!I still think of you !
That every moment which we spent together,
Are etched in my heart’s core.
For you were not just a fair weather friend,
Ergo, our parting for me was a great point of sore.
Oh!I still think of you !
That evey second we squabbled,
Left me with a crying heart.
You were that every reason that gave me a wobble,
When we had to depart.
You made me gay,
Each time you were near.
I feel your presence every day,
Even if you are not here !
——————————————————
Remember the days gone by
When we were together ?
That each moment spent with you
Today I try to gather.
I have smiling lips and and teary eyes
A heavy breath I take,
Tears roll down my cheeks
With every single beat my heart does ache.
Everywhere I go , my eyes quest
Only if I can find you somewhere,
To hold you close to my heart
And pour out all my warmth and care.
You won’t return…..I know
To strum the chords of my heart,
And gloominess bricks up within me
When back I dart.
This infatuation though would lead me to nowhere
Still,memories in mind whip through,
I can just pray you turn up someday
Because I’M ALWAYS WAITING FOR YOU !

I didn’t save my old poems. A decision I regret. These are all very good.

The poems I’ve written have all been per request, like for a funeral (eewww for this forum huh, [and there were a few!]), or for some other person’s idea for a publication…
They seem to like the stuff, but I like to write short fiction or straight up journalism.
Studied a lot in school but would still never call myself a poet!
Nope, never wrote a love poem per se.

Beautiful poem, Todd. Well, my first love poem was written when I was 13, but the one to whom I dedicate is to you know who
“Love” is the name of the poem.

Reisender, I have the same regret in regards to my poems too. I had started writing poetry in elementary school. I had saved them, then took a look at them later in life and thought they were childish. Good grief what was I thinking? They were childish because I had written them as a CHILD.
But, I digress… I have written love poems to my then fiance’, he enjoyed them so much, he felt they should be written into song, yeah right. Married over 20 years now
This is a very good poem! Thanks for sharing!

Will the rain dance with joy, falling into your footprints?
Did the Sun rise early to caress your face?
Did the wind whisper your name as it past my window ?
And were the trees moaning softly as you walked beneath?
what sad man will not hold your hand,
And have his Soul lifted by your silent presence?
What poor soul will become wealthy from seeing your generous smile?
I wrote that for my wife just after we got married in 1985, she found a misspelled word, circled it in red ink and gave it back to me. she never got another one and 15 years later i walked out on her and never looked back, God she was a beast!

Nice poem, Todd. I also made a short poem to my former girlfriend and it goes like this:
It wouldn’t rhyme if translated in English but the poem is about this:
Good morning my darling
Your beauty radiates like a sun
You have risen with a smile in your face
How i love you to be mine
As the sun sets there’s the night
As you sleep i will be there beside you
In the end my love
We’ll be together at the end of the day.
By the way, that former girlfriend am saying:
Is my beautiful wife, Janet.

When I was a senior I wrote a poem for my girlfriend, Jeanie,
called “Queen in Paper Roses” and showed it to her and she
had it put in a school publication for writers. One girl who had
a lot of stories & poems was named, Diana Ross. See some
of my other poems on my 360. I will be adding more later

It is now ash
that has been
absorbed in the soil
that was under
the feet of a girl
who was too distracted
to ever really read
what I buried
in words.
