The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. It is pretty insightful into human nature, and the nature of how humans consider and interact with God, and how religion (in this case, Christianity) is treated through the course of a life. It is also a rather humorous book. The body of the text consists of a senior demon's letters to his nephew, who is trying to win souls away from heaven. I am not strictly Christian myself, and have a hard time with a good deal of Christian fiction, mainly because it contains so much... I dunno, so much fiction? Lewis, however is a rather talented author who has a pretty firm grip on human nature. Also, if you are doing a report, Screwtape is probably the shortest Christian fiction you will find. That's a good thing, too, because it is an enjoyable read, and deserves to be read more than once.

If you like fiction set in a current timeframe I recommend Karen Kingsbury, Dee Henderson, or Teri Blackstock. If you prefer historical fiction you can't go wrong with Gilbert Morris, Brock and Bodie Thoene, Lori Wick (she also writes some current fiction), Judith Pella. To name a few.
Happy reading!

Lori Wick, Gilbert Morris, and Karen Kingsbury are some of my favorites.
