What is a good topic for a short story?
I have no ability whatsoever of writing short stories that arent morbid. I don’t write stories anyways. I prefer songs and poetry. I can’t think of anything. Help?

Just write about one thing you did today but really analyze all the feelings of all the people. And use imagry to create vivid scenes.
Its not what you write but how you write

Just about anything fits for a short story. A good thing for a short story is a moral, but not all stories have to be like that. The story can be about love, death, vampires, ghosts, witches, wizards – the list goes on. You just have to use your imagination!
***What you can do is write a poem that tells a story. Since poems aren’t usually very long, transform the story of the poem into an actual short story. Maybe even look back on what you have written and try to make it a story.
If you want an example of an okay story, you can go to my profile and go to one of my questions (don’t mean to be boasting or full of myself
) or look in my answers section to see if i have answered questions on anything that has a short story.
Hope this helps!

Take one of your poems or songs and dream up a world in which it took place, complete with all relevant characters and backdrops. Figure out all the elements, arrange them into a general outline and go from there. If you felt motivated by it enough to write a song or poem about it, you should be able to work it into a story, and your interest in the story you’ve already been inspired to tell in another form will show through in your writing.
Might be useful to always start with a poem or a song, then work it into a story later. Just a thought, good luck to you!
