What effect does writing a poem in iambic tetrameter have?
I’ve identified its written in iambic tetrameter, but in my essay, I do not know what to put for the effect of this? If it matters, the poem is ‘To His Coy Mistress’ by Andrew Marvell.

It makes the poem sound very consistent and steady? At least, I think it does. =.=”

Iambic tetrameter’s rythm fits the natural movement of our bodies. It’s also very easy to read out loud, there being a pause every eight syllables. Most of Emily Dickinson’s poems are written partly in iambic tetrameter. It’s said to make a direct appeal to emotions. =) hope this helped!

It is the same beat as a heart’s, so the theme could be very heartfelt.
