You might try “free-writing”, where you write anything that comes to mind for a set period of time and then see if any of it gives you any ideas to continue.

Make fun of your essay. Write a paragraph making fun of your teacher.

Don’t attempt to organise your ideas. Just allow them to flow out willy-nilly.
Don’t expect high results. Just allow yourself to write rubbish. You can always revise it afterwards.

1) Don’t start with the introduction. Think of one thing you can write well about and write that paragraph.
2) Write anyway, don’t worry about whether it is good or not. Sometimes I write with terrible style and think it sounds awful but later go back and realize that the ideas were good, the wording just needs tweaking.
3) make yourself an outline. Maybe you’re not sure where you’re headed and making an outline can help clarify your ideas and give you the feeling you’re being productive and making progress.
4)Take small breaks. Go for a walk to clear your head and good ideas might come.

Brainstorm or make a bubblemap. You could try listing any relatable words to your topic. For example, if you’re doing animal testing:
animals
cats, dogs, rats
tested for medicine and makeup
treated poorly
dogs’ vocals are ripped out to stop them from screaming
etc., etc.
Good luck.

I would try to take my mind off of it for an hour or two and then do something else in the mean time. You never know, some things can make you think of ur writing in a different way. Hopefully, it’ll inspire you to take ur topic down through a different approach.

Hm… I don’t normally respond to these essay type-deals, but I guess the same principals apply when it comes to writer’s block.
All you really need to do is come up with the information. Writing an essay isn’t like writing a story, so you need information before you can start writing. Once you have this, it’s pretty smooth sailing from there. Just be sure that you have your ideas together.
Create an outline. Once you have this sorted, your ideas are better formed and it’s easier to write.
After this, all you can really do is take a break. Otherwise, essays are pretty much straightforward stuff. There’s not really as much breathing room because it’s so structured. Sorry I couldn’t help more.
EDIT: By the way, I love Slumdog Millionaire too! It’s an awesome movie!

Just write. Tell yourself it’s gonna suck, and be okay with that. Look over it. What can be deleted? What can be revised? What can be explained in more detail? It’s better to have something stinky to work with than nothing at all.

I write something else.
You might find it helps to write the conclusion first, if you can’t figure out what the introduction should be.

sometimes i read or listen to music. the words in the song or the novel sometimes unblock me.
sometimes i just leave what i am writing for a while, make a cup of tea or try and study something else.
when worse comes to worse i force myself to write. i write about the feeling of being blocked or try to write about what im supposed to be writing about. then i read it over and i realize how bad it sounds and come up with ways to fix/rewrite it. then im writing again.

The Internet can unblock writer’s block!
Use Google to search your topic. Add a few random keywords to your search query and peruse the different results.
For example, add words like “information”, “resource”, “best”, “greatest”, “solution”, “problem”, etc., to your topic, and browse the top 10 results of each search. This can get some ideas sparking.
Depending on the format of your essay, you can also plan to answer several questions about your topic…but you need to find good questions to answer first. For that, use Yahoo Answers!
For example, plug your topic into the Yahoo Answers search box and find out what questions people are asking. Jot down the 3 most common and start collecting what you would say to answer those questions.
There’s a whole bunch of strategies for unblocking writer’s block, and for converting content you find on the web into your own, original content at. Grab the free report there…it even includes some macros you can use in your browser to plug in a keyword or topic and it gives back a ton of different questions and answers.
