I don’t know what level teen we’re looking for. One for slightly younger teens is Down the Rabbit Hole, by Peter Abrahams. The main character is 13 years old and get involved in a local murder investigation.
One for a slightly older teen might be The Body Of Christopher Creed, by Carol Plum-Ucci. This is suspenseful and dark, about what happens when the class reject disappears and the town starts pointing fingers everywhere but no one except the mail character is interested in the truth.
Agatha Christie is also one of my favorites, she’s very old-fashioned but that can be fun.
Here’s the back cover
Rob Allen lost his youth and his leg in Iraq. Being the single parent of a four year old girl has given him a reason to recover and paramedic school has given him the means. A disciplinary transfer has displaced him from his native Manhattan into the secluded mountains of northern Pennsylvania. His fears of boredom are quickly replaced by a struggle for survival. When Rob realizes that a traffic accident victim was actually murdered he enlists the help of Deputy Coroner Anna Drake. As the two investigate they discover that the crime of the city has its roots in the beautiful mountains. They become targets and race to stop the killer before more of their informants, or they and their families die.

Well, of course you have Sherlock Holmes. Then there’s Agatha Cristie, another good mystery writer. Those are good ones to start with.

I used to read the Box Car Children when I was little… but those might be below teenager age. Worth looking into, though, I loved them.

Agatha Christie. I am in love with her books. Read them all the way through, and they’ll get so exciting you won’t be able to put them down.

Alex Rider, aimed at the 13 end of the age range. (But good fun for anyone to read).
