creative writing questions and answers
;Writing Fantasy
I’ve just started writing a medieval fantasy novel, but the problem is, that after a certain point in the book, I don’t have a plot whatsoever. I know that I could invent one easily, but my issue is: how to make a basic plotline that hasn’t been clichéd fifty million times.
Any suggestions and/or references would be greatly appreciated. (If any questions present themselves, I’ll put the answers to them in my details)
Thanks in advance! - Tiger’s Eye

I have a good story line and everything but I just don’t know how to put a world together. Do you go really outlandish or try to keep it as simple as possible? - Too Cool For Me

I wrote books before, yet none of them were too good or published (i never tried to go to a publisher but I could guess the outcome). Can someone give me tips and good words or small ideas to use. Or you could provide a link to a VIDEO that could explain, but only video. Thank you to everyone who answers and especially thank you to who ever receives best answer! - kickboychamp54

I’m something of a budding writer, and would like to join a group that actively critiques work of its members, or perhaps a group where there can be a writer co-op for a story of whatever…the genre is mainly fantasy, although i’m open to other stuff. Thanks for your help in advance. - Cheryl H

I’m particularly interested in writing fantasy fiction since young, and I’m totally engrossed in fantasy books, like Paolini’s, Rowling’s and Diana Wayne Jones. But to you, what is necessary to train myself in writing a good fantasy story? - Leone

Ok, I am writing a rather dark fantasy novel and the main character has a very, shall we say, tortured past. As the other characters are learing about his past, I’m running into problems with the main character sounding too emotional. I want the reader to understand how dark his past has been, but not to the point that he is whining about it. Any suggestions? - K.K.

I know I want to take a creative writing class (maybe more writing classes) in college, but I’m not sure as to what else I should take. What majors? English Literature? A humanities class? I’m really interested in writing fiction. Also fantasy. That’s the one genre that really sticks out for me. Any help would be appreciated. 10 points for best answer!
P.S., I am in high school. I’m 16. - jennyjacinda

I’ve been writing for about a month now, but I haven’t figured out how to start the story. I need something that hooks the reader, and that gives background on my character’s past, while still being believable.
(Note: The story takes place in a different ‘world’, in the medieval times, and my main character has had a rather tortured past.)
And I really don’t want anyone replying with “Start at the beginning”. =) - Tiger’s Eye
