Famous poem written and narrated by author Maya Angelou

When I was around 8 (now im 17)I remember reading 2 books from my school library that were both short stories for kids, with beautiful illustrations. I dont remember the title or author of the books this is why Im asking(tried looking for them at the school library but no luck)
The 1st story was about a witch that stole the kids of this woman. The woman went to the witch’s house to get her kids back, but the witch didnt wantd to give them back. The part that I remember clearly is when she arrives there and the witch tells here that if she wants her kids back she must cut her legs or something similar, so the mother tricks the witch by walking on her knees and hidding her legs behind her.
I dont remember the 2nd story very well, but the pictures. The story was something about a king (and a queen i think) that were planning a party, the picture that I remember very well is one were the king is in his bathtub(or his bed, cant remember very well) and there is this huge tray with food.

I am a guy in my late 20s and I love reading a good romance novel. I really like Danielle Steel’s novels! Should I keep this a secret from girls? Would it turn you off a guy if you came over to his house and saw that he had a book case filled with romance fiction?

I am not gay, I just have a rather sensitive/emotional side. Should I hide that from a woman and pretend I like only doing guy sort of things?

I read a book…(if anyone read this and remembers the name…please tell me.) About a woman who gave birth to a mixed child. Her husband was white and she never cheated. In the end, it was found that her husband cheated with a woman who moments earlier slept with a black man. Supposedly the black mans sperm traveled back into the white mans penis. He then went home and slept with his wife who became pregnant when he released that sperm. Can this actually happen, or is this very far fetched fiction?

the killer puts the bodies in shallow graves on an island. i’m pretty sure the book is written by a woman, maybe by patricia cornwell. i think the character is an anthropologist and medical examiner.

The protoganist is a super skilled US soldier specialized in East-Asian countries.
As book starts, he passes throught the defence of a training polygon and nobody notices him.

Then he rescues US soldiers that were captived in some asian country (i think it was in Vietnam, but i’m not sure). During the mission he travels underneath the water along the river to the landing point and then he moves to the enemy base and successfully rescues captives.

In the second part of the book, he somehow finishes his military carrier in asian countries(but possibly not with army), and moves back to the silent USA. Then he meets a woman. And somehow discovers that he or she is being shadowed. He is not skilled in civilian detective skills, but he kills bad guys.
How it has ended i don’t remember.
I read the book about few years ago.The book is pretty big, i think more than 300 pages at least

I was wondering if anyone new the Title of a book with the following plotline:

The protagonist is a woman, i believe from Sicily, who travels to England during the 1600s. She’s got a bit of a murder mystery on her hands, and she’s up to date on the best medical knowledge of the time.

The problem is of course that being far from Mediterrenean culture, the folks around her have an inclination to believe she’s a witch.

Does this sound familiar to anyone at all?

Last fall, me and four other friends of mine, Tony, Matt, Kathleen, and Nate, all used to be in a group called The Fab Five. Because they five of us were so close. And I decided to write a novel about us. I wrote different chapters and stuff about our livwes going crazy and stuff. In one chapter, our lives get turned into a dramatic soap opera. It’s kind of interesting, too.

-Tony and a girl named Trisha are totally inseperable.
-Cary (me) is a struggling journalist
-Kathleen is enchanted by a woman and she falls in love with the first guy she sees and she picks Tony
-Nate has amnesia after tripping over a pipe and hitting his head.
-Matt has been accused of shoplifting but hasn’t done anything and he can’t be proven innocent.

I’m stuck and I have no place to lead them. I really need some help here.
Kathleen likes Tony who secretly likes her but won’t admit it who also likes Trisha so much.

Matt was shopping at Best Buy and then, after purchasing a DVD, the shoplifter alarm went off and he accused the salesperson but the police accused Matt and now he can’t prove himself innocent. And Matt called for Nate’s help. And when Nate was on his way to Matt, he passed through a construction sight, tripped over a pipe, and suffered amnesia. The Cary found him and is trying to convince Nate who they really are but Nate’s having trouble believing it. Meanwhile, Cary’s a Journalist and while writing an article, he’s struggling so much.

The whole thing started when Nate and Matt went fishing and Nate had “opened a can of worms” from a man named Josh.

If you can give me any advice in any way, that would be awesome. I can even give you credit.

It cannot be sherlock holmes, it has to be original.. but i cannot think of anything. I want something serious. I also need to name of his assistant. They are both men. The assistant is quite dim, but the detective is very clever. Thanks! Ten points for best answer!
