Entering creative writing contests can become a lucrative yet addictive pastime for many writers who are spurred on by the challenge of pitting their wits against those of other dedicated writers. Cash prizes, publication and recognition for their endeavours entice many writers to submit their stories in the hopes of securing one of the top prizes. There are numerous creative writing contests available and a scan through any writing magazine will highlight some but for a more detailed search, simply type creative writing contests into a search engine such as Google or yahoo and a vast array of results will appear.

Finding a contest that inspires is the key to doing well. There is no point entering if the topic fails to stimulate as the resulting entry would lack enthusiasm and passion, something that a judge would clearly see. Writing with passion is important but writing with a controlled and sustained passion is even better, a good writer will be able to impart all the information needed a little at a time, unveiling unique aspects about the characters and the plots at just the right speed to tantalise the reader. When submitting fiction for creative writing contests, the writing must be tight and yet highly compelling.

For greater results in any creative writing contests, adhere to the following points:

Find a contest that appeals and sparks off that all important imagination trail Read the rules several times. Most writers fail simply because they do not pay attention to detail. Don’t just start writing, think. The thinking process is an integral part of being a good writer; they work hand in hand so allow time to mull over potential ideas and then eventually, when happy, make your choice and start writing. Plan the story. Decide where to start within the plot itself and create a compelling introduction by starting off at an exciting point, then draw the reader in with carefully crafted words. Know those characters. If your characters are under-developed and uninteresting, the judge’s interest will wane, so invest some time to create strong, exciting and 3 dimensional characters that appear larger than life. It helps to really get inside the skin of the characters and make them believable. Try to live through the story as you write it, feel every emotion and witness every event that unfolds. This gives your writing an extra and most important winning element. Edit ruthlessly and ensure that the specified word count has been adhered to. Editing is vital to ensure that any unnecessary words are eliminated. Never pad out a story unnecessarily, every word should be important. Develop your own style and a confidence in your work. Don’t leave it until the last minute to write your story. Whilst determination and a ticking clock can kick-start that all important creative process, having time to re-read and edit is paramount. Don’t waste a great storyline and a well-written piece of fiction through starting your story too late and submitting with spelling mistakes or grammatical errors. Check out previous winning entries if available, then you are able to judge the standard and the types of stories that won and consider why. Think from a judge’s perspective, could your submission be improved and achieve greater winning potential?

• Keywords and Keyword Phrases.

An article must always be centered on the keywords and keyword phrases. ***? each website visitor goes to a site, there are those who are just merely browsing ****? actually looking for a specific something. When this happens, a ***?archer usually goes to a ***?arch engine and types in the keywords they are looking for (e.g. Toyota Camry, Meningitis, Tax Lawyer and Etcetera). It could be anything they ****?t.

The Important thing is that you have an article that has the keywords that are related to your site. For example, if you maintain an auto parts site, you must be able t have articles about cars and their parts.  There are many tools in the internet that provides ***?rvice in helping a webmaster out in determining what keywords and keyword phrases are mostly sought out. You can use this tool to determine what keywords to use and write about.  

• Keyword Density

Know that you have your keywords and keyword phrases, you must use them ***?lly. An article must have ****?d keyword density for a ***?arch engine to “feel” its presence. Articles should at least have ten to fifteen ***?rcent of keyword density in their content for ***?arch engines to rank a site high in their ***?arch results. Getting a high rank is what articles do best for a site.

Keyword density is the number of ***?mes a keyword or keyword phrase is used on an article. The number varies depending on the number of words used in an article. An effective article must have a keyword density that is not too high or too low. With a very high density, the essence of the article is lost and may turn off a reader ***? well ***? the ***?arch engines. It comes off ***? overeager. A low number may be ignored by the ***?arch engines.

• Good Article Content

Like what is stated above, you cannot just riddle an article with keywords. They must also be regarded ***? ****?d reading materials. Articles must be able to entertain ***?ople ***? well ***? provide ****?d information and help for their needs. Articles should be written well with correct spelling and ****?d grammar. If you ****?t ***?ople to trust you, make your work ****?d and well thought out.

People respond well to figures, ***?cts and statistics. Try to get great information and ***? many ***?cts ***? you can. A ****?d and well written article will ****?st your reputation ***? an expert in your chosen field or topic. ***? more ***?ople believe in you. They will be able to trust you and your products.

• Linking Articles

And another important thing to remember. If you are going to submit articles to ezines and/or contribute your articles to newsletters and other sites, DON’T ever forget to include a link to your site. A little resource box with a brief description of your site and you should always be placed right after your articles that you have submitted. There is a lot of free information about writing on the internet. You can obtain some of the free information by just using a search engine and signing up for a free course, these are offered by many of the article sites.

But, it seems that most of the e-books and free instructions I receive in my e-mail are NOT FOR NEWBIES (even though a lot of them say they are). Many of them are hard to understand and it takes longer to read and understand them than it does to do the necessary work.

This has been written to make the real NEWBIES internet writing start easier!

First things first!

What are your goals? Do you want to write books, write short stories, or write articles? Decisions, Decisions! Most people go through a period of trying to decide what to write.

You may want to review products and write articles to promote those articles

Become an affiliate for various programs, review products and to write articles about other peoples products and submit them to article site. When someone buys the product from your article, you make money.

This is the fastest and cheapest way to internet income.

It can be started without spending a dime, other than your computer and an internet connection.

Should you choose article writing you will need a little help getting started. Like finding the easiest ways to do the research and submit your articles to article sites.

The following is the simplest way that I know of to get started:

Download a free copy of EasyNoter Lite.  It is an easynoter product to keep record of your affiliate and all other info you may need later. This is the small version, later you may want to but the full version. But, the easynoter lite works just a good. Just a few more features in the Pro Version. Next you will need to do is get a Paypal account (there is no charge for this). Go to paypal.com. Then you will need to sign up for affiliate programs; such as Clickbank, CommissionJunction, PayDotCom, and RegNow. And any others you would like to use (they are all free). My favorite for affiliate programs is Clickbank.

Then the fun begins, start your research for programs to promote through an online search. There are many out there. Each of the affiliate programs offers their own product search ability.

You can use Clickbank for this, or any of the affiliate connections you have signed up for.

Notes: For my research I choose to use a free program called PinURL.com for Clickbank products. I can see which programs offer the best conversion by affiliates, the commission percentage rates, and referred by affiliate’s information. . Another good site for product search is bigprism.com.

The higher the conversion rate is the more you will sell. The higher the commission percentage the more you make. The higher referred by affiliate percentage means that is how many of their sold products were referred by affiliates.

PinUrl.com also offers a URL shortening service.

That simply means it will make your long URL short and will also mask your affiliate links. Masking your links in important so that your sales cannot be stolen by a dishonest affiliate.

If you choose to, you can add a tracking link to each link you use. Tracking links will let you know which of your ads (or articles) are making you money.

Using PinUrl or Bigprism. When using PinUrl or Bigprism first choose the sort options:

Next click on the link for each of the sites you are thinking about promoting. Very carefully look at each of the sites that you are considering. That way you can decide to promote the sites products (or not). One of the deciding factors for me is if they offer a trial. If they do, I can use the product for a while and make a wise decision as to how well they work.

Key: Make sure you believe in what you are promoting.

After doing all the research and approving the program, I sign up as an affiliate for the programs I want to promote. Then I begin an article for the product using a professional version of an article writing software program.

One that allows you to search content for numerous similar products. You then pick the sentences you would like to use and rewrite them in your own words. You copy and paste. Then you change each and every sentence using your own words.

You can get a trial version of the professional writing program and use it as long as you want before buying the full version.

I always try everything before I buy, if it is available. The trial version will not be as complete as a full version, but most are fully functional.

Once I think the article is pretty good, I start the submission process. You can do a search for submission sites and submit manually. Or you can use submittion products.

There are free automatic submission products also. You can get a trial version of a professional product as I did and use it as long as you like before purchasing the full version of the product. Many article submission sites are already pre programmed in the submission software. You will need to take the time to sign up for each of them that you wish to use and confirm your e-mail address. This step will need to be done if you submit manually or with any of the submission software. If they don’t know who you are you can’t submit to them.

As soon as you sign up at the submission site, put the information in your submission software.

Note: Also put it in you easynoter incase you have a problem with your computer. Your easynoter can be backed up daily so the info is always there.

The submission software will automatically fill the blanks in for you each time you start to submit to that site. Then; it becomes automatic submission.

Just plug in the article, fill in the name blank, what category, and ZAP, your article goes out to many article directories. People see it, read it, and buy from you, MONEY!

Prior to learning the above shortcuts, I spent hours and hours studying and researching before writing just one article or otherwise supporting the said product. It did not have to be that hard.

A well-written article can get more visitors to buy products or services you support, thereby increasing your profits. If your article is placed on the front page of an article-publishing website, your product or website will get maximum hits.

As you probably know by now, In order for products to be sold, it is necessary for trained & skilled individuals to research and write articles about the products.

Have you tried and failed, gave up and quit? Started over another day as I did? Or, are you still pounding away on your computer? Then after reading the article you wrote, rewriting the article repeatedly before you consider it perfect. Golly, were we ever doing it the hard way.

There are products that will help you write your article effectively by allowing you to search content for numerous similar products. You then have the option of sending the results, one paragraph at a time, to another program to write you article from proven content.

All you have to do then is pick the sentences you would like to use and rewrite them in your own words.

Submission takes the longest, therefore it is wise to use a submission product, and you can use a free product to start with, or get the trial version of a profession product. Fill in the blanks once and start submitting.
