Science Fiction?

I’m working on a science fiction novel about a group of college students who are being hunted down by people in another country. How can I present large quantities of information at the beginning of the book without it sounding cheesy or boring?

Could someone identify a juvenile science fiction novel for me?

I read this novel as a kid in the 1980s (so it is at least that old). The novel was a bit like “Lord of the Flies” in space, with a large group of children of all nationalities being sent into space as a colonizing force aboard an “Ark” like ship. The children divide into factions and fight for control of the ship, which is run by a computer (called Mother, I think). One of the minor characters was named Willem. Does anyone know the name or author of this book?

Can you recommend a science fiction novel similar to Robert Charles Wilson’s “Spin”?

Recently read this book, thought it was incredible, and now want to expand my reading list with similar titles. I’m not interested in books with a similar plot necessarily, but rather science fiction novels that:

–are engrossing and easily readable, despite the presence of complicated scientific concepts;
–contain realistic and nuanced characters who speak in natural-sounding dialogue; and
–could be appreciated equally as “literary” fiction or science fiction.

Will a time travel theme hurt the chances of a novel being published?

I want to write a young adult science fiction novel, and I have an idea about time travel. It’s somewhat different than how time travel is usually depicted in fiction. In fact, it’s almost satiric of the idea. But I’m wondering if time travel is too cliche now to market? Will an editor take one look at the story, say, “not another one about time travel …” and toss it in the rejected bin? Should I just come up with another idea, or is a time travel-themed book still marketable?

I have an unpublished science fiction book? How do I get the word out about it?

I am trying to publish my first science fiction novel. I know all the procedures for publishing a book, but so far it is very frustrating. I keep getting rejected. I know this is a normal part of book publishing, but I want to know if there is a website where I can post part of my book online so other people can read it and give me feedback about it. Perhaps if I make my book known, it will have a better chance of getting published. Any suggestions?
