;Science Fiction Novel
If a literary agent specifically notes on their submissions page that they are interested in Young Adult Novels (among other things of course) but then they write that they are currently not accepting science fiction, what does that mean…exactly? Will they accept my YA novel that has some science fiction overtures? It’s not actually a science fiction novel, its a young adult novel. Or, since they said they don’t want science fiction, should I just not submit to them at all?

I am a published mystery author, and go to many writers’ conventions attended by editors and agents willing to meet new authors. I have written a science fiction novel and would like to meet writers/editors/agents from that genre.

I remember reading a summary of a science fiction novel once and thinking that it would be very interesting to read, but I never found it afterward.
I roughly recall that it was about some captain trying to find out more about this alien language which is used to control people. The problem is as she delves more and more into it, she comes under its control and may become a traitor in the process. What is the name of this novel? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I’m trying to find a good sci-fi book to read. I enjoy reading about time travel theory, but not super cliche time travel stuff, if you know what I’m talking about. I’m also really into Doctor Who, so if anyone has read any of those books, which one would you recommend? Something preferably on the shorter side too, so maybe no more than 500 or 550 pages. Thanks.

When you’re reading an amazing science fiction novel what is your favorite preposition to see pop up? What word that links a noun or pronoun to another word just makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up in the good way?
I really, really like ‘upon.’ God, it just does it for me! What’s your preposition of choice?
