;Names
I’m writing a novel and I need a website that will give me names used between 1800 and 1900. If someone could help me that would be excellent. Also, i have already tried www.behindthename.com and they weren’t much help.

When I was a kid, I remember reading a book where all the characters were colorful people-shaped monsters, and they were all named based on their personalities. For instance the purple one was a mean guy named Malicious, but I don’t know the other characters’ names. There was a part where they all walked through the snow.
I’m guessing I read the book about 18 years ago. Does anyone know the title? I don’t have a lot of info, but I figure maybe one of you remembers it too.

I know, I know, name’s aren’t near as important as who the character is.. and many times easier to figure out names AFTER you write the story, but I’m just curious as to what you think right off the bat when you hear this… Sort of a sci-fi/fantasy genre. Alright, the name is…
Landen Ro.
Tell me what you think! Thanks.

I’m starting way ahead and I’m trying to get some names of some Arts summer programs that have creative writing workshops. I’m not looking for the cheesy children ones, I’m looking for ones that are for actual teen writers. Does anyone know of any?

I am in the process of writing a book about ghostly experiences at a psych hospital I work at, as well as some history of the place. There will be no names mentioned, except the name of the Hospital. All historic information I am using about it is public knowledge. So what, if anything, could be the legal implications of me writing this novel?

I’m doing a report on the differences between poetry from now and the poetry that was written in a past era. But my problem is I don’t know what era or period of poetry there is to talk about. Can you help me?

I’m not writing any, but I’m just curious. What are some names of some short story authors that were very successful? Do you think, if you write short stories and novels, that you should publish a few novels first before publishing an anthology of short stories?

I’m in 12th grade (17 years old) and I live in the State of New York if it’s of any consolation, and I want to enter a creative writing essay contest that is renowned in some way shape or form. Any names of contests I can look up for 2009?
