If I’m an aspiring writer who also wants to potentially teach, is an MFA or MA in Creative Writing more useful. I know with an MA you can still persue a PHD, so I’m curious what would be the positives of taking that path as well!

I live near two good programs, but I’m uncertain about what utility the degree itself has. Is it a good idea in general to attend these programs, especially if you might be interested in genre fiction?

I will soon be graduating from college with a B.S. Social Science. I plan to take the summer off and then start on my MFA in creative writing. However, I want to start right now to researching and applying. I have found very few online universities with the degree I am looking at. I do not and cannot move away from home and so I want to achieve my degree by going through online university. Please help me!

I would like to pursue a graduate degree in Creative Writing but am wondering what your opinion is as far as it’s marketable value. I would be doing it partially for my own benefit as well, but I’d like to know if any of you view a Master’s degree as a good career move for an aspiring creative non-fiction writer.
