is it wise to add a little fantasy in a fact and fiction novel?

hi, my story is based on actual events, but i added a little fiction. i also have some chapters on fantasy: like a character befriending a ghost. do you think this would make for a good novel?

i’s it okay to write about an event someone has already covered such as war? i’ve read a lot of stories about the subject of my novel: only theirs was a memoir. mine has fictitious events added to it, is this okay?
