Questions

OK, it’s opinion time, but first, a few caveats:

1) Nobody who is dead or retired. We all love Asimov and Heinlein, but I am trying to find out peoples opinions on recent, current authors

2) No non-genre authors. Please restrict answers to writers of Science Fiction (i.e. no horror, fantasy, or surrealists please).

3) I am not looking for sales figures (you can have a favorite author who is not a best seller and recommend them), so do not justify your answer with “his books sell well”.

That being said, I will provide my personal sample answer:
Simon R. Green: stylistically he is one of the best and most interesting writers in the genre today

I write short stories and would love to sell some of them. I am disabled and lived on a fixed income and would love to suppliment my income. The stories are very well written.
My stories are fiction, but based on the actual belief and personalities of the people living around me.

i love to write ****? , since the death of my mother I cant come up with the words like i used to , and i love to write its my life , and I am stuck can someone please help me figure out a way to get over this block.

I love to write, but my stories are always very very long. Its only a hobby of mine, but I would love to be able so finish one every once in awhile. I have all these ideas but can’t ever seem to finish one.

So how to you tell the story throughly but keep it from turning into a novel?

I am almost 13 and my dream is to become an author. I have written many short stories, mostly about teen problems such as eating disorders, cutting, and lying. I would LOVE to get them published into a novel. Any ideas how?

I love graphic novels, but I have a lot of ideas for a collection of graphic short stories. What are some good examples of it? I want to get an idea of the format, layout and that type of thing.
