I wrote books before, yet none of them were too good or published (i never tried to go to a publisher but I could guess the outcome). Can someone give me tips and good words or small ideas to use. Or you could provide a link to a VIDEO that could explain, but only video. Thank you to everyone who answers and especially thank you to who ever receives best answer!

I’ve written a fantasy novel and have been looking through the writers and artists yearbook for agents. If they say they handle ‘general fiction’ and don’t say ‘no fantasy or sci-fi’ then is it worth submitting to them or will they instantly discard it because it’s fantasy?

I began to wrote a fantastic fantasy novel for kid not so long ago but i really want my work to be more structured.And It seem that every time a want to wrote something original someone else have the same idea than me!Help

I’ve been writing for about a month now, but I haven’t figured out how to start the story. I need something that hooks the reader, and that gives background on my character’s past, while still being believable.

(Note: The story takes place in a different ‘world’, in the medieval times, and my main character has had a rather tortured past.)

And I really don’t want anyone replying with “Start at the beginning”. =)

How far can an author go with writing a fiction novel, in this context, for example; creating people and places that doesn’t exist in a real country and/or region, or if you write a fantasy novel and you want to use a place that really exist. Is it always legal? Or are there Limits?
Also, what are things to avoid when writing fiction?

I’m writing a fantasy novel, and there is a person who is stabbed in the heart. Now I know that normally a person would die, but in this case there is a substance on it that instantly heals the heart. How quickly would this substance need to connect to the heart before it’s too late. Does this seem too far fetched to you?
