I am interested in doing freelance proofreading, preferably fiction books. Any pointers for getting started?
I love to read! I have a B/A in history and economics (double major) and a J.D. I have retired from the practice of law and would like to immerse myself in fiction writing by proofreading for quality authors and publishers. I would be happy to submit a resume and transcripts for any openings in this field. I would also be willing to do some traveling, as well as update my skills through in-house training or through further college credit as required.
I work best from my home or from the small office I have established in an historic office building located in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. I could communicate via computer, fax, phone, snail-mail and Fed Ex/UPS, etc…. Never having done this type of work before, I have no clue as to what to charge for this service; please be kind!
If you have done this type of work before, or, are looking for a person with my abilities, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks so much!

What recommendations do you have for building a fan fiction website?
What advice does anyone have for me if I want to start a quality website of fanfiction for some of my favorite anime characters? I don’t have a clue as to where to begin. I only know of one fanfiction site that is spectacular and I would like to create my own site that is just as nice. Only serious responses please! Thanks, guys.

Creative Writing for a 10 year old girl?
I live in NYC and my 10 yr old daughter loves to write short stories.
I keep them but wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions on what course to take with her or do you know of any Creative Writing classes for 10yr olds. I also thought about publishing some but have no clue how I would even present the writings to a publisher.

Beautifully written love letters and love poems can melt the hardest heart and people that receive them will read them over and over again. Both men and women cherish beautiful love letters and poems written by their lovers all their lives and keep them stored in a special place to read in private moments when they are alone. Now most guys and girls, men and women will argue that they have not a clue on how to write love letters and love poems but it is a lot easier than you think. What does not matter when writing love poems is the neither the words you use, nor the prose, whether the poem or letter rhymes or not or how you lay out the paragraphs. Love letters and poems to your partner give you the true means to speak your emotions fully and this is what will project to your partner when they read them.
Love letters and sad Love Poems.
Many people wonder why sad love poems are so special and romantic and the answer is pretty simple. Sad Love poems are bittersweet and you can use words to express your feelings to the one you love while you are apart even if it is for a day. For example; ‘My heart yearns for you every minute you are gone’ when you leave I mourn for your return and nothing can gladden my heart not eve’ a flower. This sentence speaks volumes and similar words written in sad love poems and letters to your partner will touch their hearts and even bring a tear to their eyes. If you have no idea how to start to write sad love poems and love letters then there are unfortunately pretty few guides that can really help you. There is one written by an expert Australian author though, that guides you how to write love letters and poems and you even have tons of free poems that can be downloaded to use as examples.
Sad Love Letters and love poems can get your ex back
If your relationship is going through difficult times then you can use sad love poems and deeply felt love letters to get your ex back, renew failing bonds and express how much you feel for your loved one. Women are romantics at heart more so than men and when you send a love letter that is filled with your true emotions it will melt her hardened heart if you were the cause of the break up. As mentioned above the rule of thumb is pouring out your emotions onto paper no matter how corny they may look. This is what makes the written word so special. Emotion can be projected with line and verse using the right wording. help. some form of writers block. 911! :/?
so i keep having these great titles for stories popping up in my head… and they relate to issues in my life.. i write to get my feelings out. but lately im not sure how to do it. i want to become more serious with my writing. my teachers say im talented and i should try to do something beyond school work so i figure whats gonna hurt to try? so… for example of my writers block:
i quit softball and i bought these new brand on cleats.. very expensive.. and i miss the sport. my dad, who was my coach for 14 years and biggest fan, is disappointed and i feel like i let myself down. but because of reasons that i cant explain here… i cant play any more. and well something keeps telling me to write about it, but i dont want it to be plain and be like “this is what happened. i quit, i cant play, and i have these new cleats that haunt me every day about quitting because theyre sitting in a box and bug me.” well the title would be “Brand New Ringors”… i know it needs some work, but the work cant come until the story does!
(and dont worry… i dont write like i talk, meaning to clarify that i know i probably seem like a bad writer right now because im not using any form of any kind.)
i HAVE tried to start several different stories but nothing seems quite right to fit.. to get my feelings out.
but basically what im trying to ask is how to overcome this hill… and what the best way to go about doing it is, and getting started. i never have this problem.. so i dont have a clue as to how to fix it.
any help??

When the Wicked Witch of the Blank Page (or screen) shows up and turns your brain into mush, it can be really hard to keep your bottom in the chair and come up with something so that you can honestly say you wrote today.
However, no matter how much she waves that wand around, there are a number of things you can do to drop the metaphorical house on her head and squash her flat.
One of my favorites is the “what’s next” technique.
If you take a look at the scene you’re working on right now and haven’t a clue as to what to do with it or how it should go, start making notes or a list of what is going to happen later. This can be the very next scene or even later in the story. Chances are you have at least a glimmer of what’s going to happen down the line. It doesn’t have to be super concrete or written down. Even a vague idea about what you think might happen down the line will work.
Write a one line note at the top of the page (or screen) about what’s coming up. (Yes, it can be longer. If it gets you on a roll, then that’s even better.)
Now that you know what’s going to happen in the future, consider what needs to happen before that in order for the upcoming action to occur. For instance, maybe you need to plant a clue in order for it to make its appearance later. Or consider what might be the missing step that needs to happen in order for the later scene to make sense.
A good way to get this going is to start writing (or typing): “So I know that at some point, [character's name] is going to do __________________, which means that in this scene, ______________________” Fill in the blanks (in writing) and keep going.
Or ask yourself, if Character A is going to be doing X in the future, what would she need to do before that? What would she be likely to do next? If Character B is going to be doing Y in the next chapter, what would make sense for him to do here?
You don’t even have to actually write the scene. Just write about the scene and some possible things you could do with it or directions in which you could go.
As you’re brainstorming (on paper), consider other ways to express or accomplish what you’re trying to do in that scene. Often the first thing we come up with is the obvious. Noodle on five possible ways the scene could play out and see what shows up.
The important thing is to put all your notes and brainstorming on paper. Then you’ll have something to work with. It might be a great idea or story, but if it stays in your head, no one is every going to read it.

How do i start writing a novel?
I have a great idea for a novel, but i have no clue on how to start writing it!
I have tried plotting, but i always get carried away with it, and never start actually writing.
I was wondering if any of you out there could give me some pointers on how to start writing.
I was also thinking of maybe steering this idea towards a graphic novel area.
Any pointers?
