I especially like mystery and suspense fiction by a good author. I am now reading Mary Higgins Clark and I can’t say much yet. I’ve just started a few chapters. I’ve read all Sidney Sheldon books (which to me are very entertaining!) and I am searching now for a good author to read. Can anyone help me? - nikki1985

hi, my story is based on actual events, but i added a little fiction. i also have some chapters on fantasy: like a character befriending a ghost. do you think this would make for a good novel?
i’s it okay to write about an event someone has already covered such as war? i’ve read a lot of stories about the subject of my novel: only theirs was a memoir. mine has fictitious events added to it, is this okay? - nama

I was wondering if I am making my chapters too short for a fanfiction I’m writing. They average to about 1500-2000 words. Is that long enough? Or should I make them longer? - Jacob’s Imprint

I heard of people reading about the first 12 chapters of Midnight Sun and I want to know where you can find them… but I’m afraid about running into fan fiction. So please let it be a reliable source if you know of one. - Piggy

I use Times New Roman for font in size 12. How many pages long would you say the chapters should be?
It’s in Microsoft Word, so when I say pages, I mean printer-paper sized. Just making sure everyone knows. - Sparky

Am I suppose to try and finish writing the book before seeking a agent or publisher, or should I pitch them my idea first. I have already completed several chapters. Also do I even need a agent or do I just go to a publisher. Also what are some good publishers for paranormal novels in the united states.
And would you know that if I start by writing paranormal with a particular publisher if I have to keep writing that style, or if I can switch to regular romance novels at a later time. - Anonymous

Last fall, me and four other friends of mine, Tony, Matt, Kathleen, and Nate, all used to be in a group called The Fab Five. Because they five of us were so close. And I decided to write a novel about us. I wrote different chapters and stuff about our livwes going crazy and stuff. In one chapter, our lives get turned into a dramatic soap opera. It’s kind of interesting, too.
-Tony and a girl named Trisha are totally inseperable.
-Cary (me) is a struggling journalist
-Kathleen is enchanted by a woman and she falls in love with the first guy she sees and she picks Tony
-Nate has amnesia after tripping over a pipe and hitting his head.
-Matt has been accused of shoplifting but hasn’t done anything and he can’t be proven innocent.
I’m stuck and I have no place to lead them. I really need some help here.
Kathleen likes Tony who secretly likes her but won’t admit it who also likes Trisha so much.
Matt was shopping at Best Buy and then, after purchasing a DVD, the shoplifter alarm went off and he accused the salesperson but the police accused Matt and now he can’t prove himself innocent. And Matt called for Nate’s help. And when Nate was on his way to Matt, he passed through a construction sight, tripped over a pipe, and suffered amnesia. The Cary found him and is trying to convince Nate who they really are but Nate’s having trouble believing it. Meanwhile, Cary’s a Journalist and while writing an article, he’s struggling so much.
The whole thing started when Nate and Matt went fishing and Nate had “opened a can of worms” from a man named Josh.
If you can give me any advice in any way, that would be awesome. I can even give you credit. - Cary

I did Nanowrimo this year, and through many many hard times and good times, I achieved well over 50 000 words! It’s the first time that I’ve even come close to finishing a novel. The novel is in the YA genre, and it’s called Winslow.
It’s about a girl, Lyla, whose family owns a traveling carnival. She’s always on the road, she’s home schooled, she lives in an RV, her father left without a trace when she was young, and she’s got an adopted sister. But lately, with her 17th birthday party nearing, she’s been craving a normal life; friends, a place to call home, and maybe even a boy. Her life gets turned upside down in one summer when her family mysteriously decides return to her home town, Winslow. There she gets reacquainted with some family secrets, the town she’s only visited 3 times in her life, and Max; Lyla’s only childhood friend, who’s changed so much since Lyla left him three years ago.
So yeah, I’m hoping that sounds original and interesting enough. Please tell me what you think. I try to be creative and genuine and not to be like every other Twilight wannabe novels out there. So please, do tell me what you think and maybe I’ll review something of yours too.
You don’t have to, but if you’d like you can read some chapters at: http://www.scribd.com/people/documents/4486155/folder/48661 I think you have to scroll to the bottom to start from one. I’m not forcing you to read all of it. Heck, you can read one paragraph if you like. Just leave me a little comment on what you think. THANK YOU! (please note that it’s the first draft and there WILL be completely idiotic spelling/grammar mistakes) - Lucy
