What are the continuities between the world of poet and characters in the poem in Beowulf?

Oscar-winning screenwriter Roger Avary, who co-wrote Pulp Fiction and 2007’s Beowulf, was arrested early Monday morning, under the suspicion of manslaughter and driving under the influence, according to Yahoo! News.

According to Yahoo!, Avary, 42, was the driver in the single-car collision shortly after midnight Sunday in Ojai, CA, said Capt. Ross Bonfiglio of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. The article further states that the accident resulted in the death of a passenger, a guest of Avary and his wife, Gretchen. The passenger was visiting from Italy and was freed from the wreckage via the Jaws of Life. He died several hours later at Ventura County Medical Center.
Mrs. Avary was also injured in the accident, after her body was ejected from the car and later found on the road by deputies.

Avary, who co-wrote Beowulf with writer Neil Gaiman, was released from custody after posting his $50,000 bail.
