This is for a fictional lead that will be the main character in a Horror/ Action adventure fiction Novel.

The main character is a male geologist/mining specialist. There was some political espionage in the mix and of course he always got the woman at the end. His side kick was an 80 year old alcholic ex-sailor who used a cane(I think) to walk. I read a couple of his books then got turned on to Clive Cussler. Now I can’t remember enough details to find him again. I’ve asked book store employees, but it’s no good. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thank you!

No “dark” material such as sex, violence. It can be mystery, action, adventure, etc. Book for a teen to read.
