Question for other aspiring writers. (Writer’s block)?

I’ve had a bad case of writer’s block for a month now. It’s driving me insane! I can’t even start a story anymore. I can’t continue on anything I’ve started. Has anyone gotten like this, and what did they do to get out? Any good cures for writer’s block? Is this normal in writers?

    Definitely normal.

I get it a lot, and all i do is read a good book, or watch a good film. It gives me inspiration anda lot of ideas, so i get quite excited about writing.

If that doesn’t work for you, i think you’ll have to just try and get on with normal life. Sometimes the feeling of writing comes and goes, it’s just different for different people. You will want to write again, it won’t just be taken out from you completely.

You won’t be bored forever, trust me.

I get this all the time!! What I do (because I’m a novelist), I put my book down for a week or so and write a short story. Something completely different than a novel (sometimes I even venture into poetry). In simpler terms, method one (for me) is to write something that you wouldn’t usually write. If you’re a poet, write a short story and vise versa.

    Method Two:
Write a paragraph or two on a prompt:
some good prompt sites: This one’s my fave!!

    Method Three:
Enter a writing contest (doesn’t have to be a paying one):
(much more if you search google)

That’s all I have for now. Good Luck!!
    Happy Writing!

Believe me, I’ve gotten writers’ block HUNDREDS of times. I am serious.
Yup. Writer’s block sucks, but you just have to plow through it.
Why don’t you post your story(ies) on here and maybe some of us can help you through the block? I’d be willing to read it through and give you some ideas.
Also, print out the story and read it aloud to family members and friends. See what they think. If they have any ideas, use them!
    Okay. Let’s see.
Yes, I have gotten like that.
I usually take a break from the stories and work on another, or start another, or ask others for help on what I should do.
Good cures? There’s no cure. But there are plenty of ways you can GET help.
Yes. This is VERY normal in writers. Very, very, very normal.

It’s different for everyone…for some people it helps if they just try to write a bunch of pages, even if it’s just nonsense, and others (like me) just have to wait it out until the urge to write comes back. Extremely frustrating, I know. Don’t think about it too much, it’ll come back naturally.
