Walk away for awhile, then come back. Look up sites on the internet, try to find those things where they give you a random quote to use in the story.
Do you have your story posted online somewhere? If not, fictionpress.com is a good place to have it. Then people can comment and review, and that always motivates me to write more - when I know people are reading. If you do have it up somewhere, let me know. I’d love to read it and maybe give you some ideas. ^_^
Check out the NaNo forums or ask your question there, I usually find that many people on their have good suggestions. Just sit down and write something, even if it is only ten words then put the notebook/computer/whatever down and take a break. 6000 words isn’t bad, its not as far off target as you might feel.
I had a similar issue last year, felt that I had fallen too far behind and had no inspiration. Then I say down with my best friend and wrote 20,000 in three days. SO don’t worry, one good day of writing will catch you up. It’s worth sticking with it just for the sense of achievement at the end.
Try not to stress too much either, remember its meant to be fun! Good luck!
Oh, and for those who don’t know, NaNoWriMo is a challenge to write a 50,000 (or more) word novel in a month.
