Is there a market for general fiction?

I have several different types of stories ranging from tragedy, murder mystery, coming of age, etc. Do I need a genre to sell stories?

You kind of do need a genre. When it comes time to query agents you’ll need to find agents that represent your genre. So right there you pretty much need to have an idea about that. If I were you I wouldn’t worry about that right now. Once you have done TONS of research on agents and publishing you’ll be able to answer your own questions and things won’t seem so vague.
