I’m writing a murder mystery fiction work for a class and I was wondering if anyone could give me ideas?

I need some ideas for a topic, characters, a setting, etc. Thanks if you can help.

Take your own neighborhood, things you do in your own life. Think of a place where you could stumble across a body. Voila.

it would be nice if it took place like in a school or somethin maybe yours and characters have one that is like bipolar or something and have a thug and gangbangers the person who got murdered is a little girl

Here’s something I’ve always wondered about; with DNA evidence being so popular these days, isn’t DNA in everything your body secretes? Like mucous? Let’s say the school popular guy murders someone, you know this guy; capt of the football team, king of the prom, everybody’s golden boy. Could he get a tissue from the locker room with sweat on it? Like sweat from the guy who lives at the opposite end of the popularity spectrum? Not too bright, kind of a brawler, every teacher’s dread. Using the DNA from the sweaty tissue or towel, could he pin it on him? Have fun.
