I'm not a writer, I used to love to write stories when i was at school. My problem was not the beginning or the middle, but the end. I used to end so many stories which my english teacher use to love to read, but i used to drive him nuts when yet another one ended with..."and then i awoke, and it had all been a dream." The advice that Celeste and Bookworm make good sense to me. Write what comes into your head. From that you can write backwards or forwards. Then edit it at the end. Then change bits:)

When I write, I almost never start at the beginning. I write a scene that's near the middle of the book, then I write the rest. THat, way I have a goal.

Honestly music really helps. I'm a writer my self and when i come to a writers block i put my Mp3 on shuffle and listen to the lyrics of a song. Then i try and put the characters I've created in that situation and see if it works out with the plot I'm doing. Another thing is i read a lot of the same genre that h'm writing. I think reading other people's work expands your imagination.

The way I write:

Write the scene I'm interested in writing at the time.

Put them together in order at the end

Edit to fill in the blanks and make it all flow and work (and this includes the beginning).

I would definitely suggest you do this, too. Once you get this done, you'll know what you want to say at the beginning.

Well personally when i write i never really start with the beginning becuase i always feel like it doesn't really go, but once i start writing i go back to the beginning and then it flows, but thats just me. Writers block sucks i get it too but i just listen to music that has to do with the mood of my story and sometimes that helps. or i ask a friend for advice.

1. Listen to music, nature, police sirens blaring loudly, etc.

2. Establish a routine where you write in the morning. If you plan to write in the afternoon or evening, you delay it.

3. Change your writing area. If you're writing on Microsoft Word, try using Notepad or a good ol' pen and paper

4. Reward yourself for writing. A nice cup of coffee or cookie can serve as powerful motivation.

5. Instead of writing in chronological order or just from the beginning, write down quotes or excerpts you have in your mind. You'll always have it if you need it, and you might even be able to expand something from there.

6. Put it aside, relax, eat a bagel, or read - at least two books - Classics.

My advice is to write anything that comes to mind. And then go back and edit it all.
