Ideas for Short Story about 2 people from different background who help each other?

I need to write a short story 2-3 pages long about 2 people from different backgrounds (races) who help each other.

Any ideas would be helpful.

Maybe You could trace it back to war, or make it like a romance story (like they end up together?) or steal some idea from the Alexander Flemming’s and Lincoln’s story??????????????
