I need help writing a short story based on Europe between WW1 and 2?

Basically, it’s like a fictional biography. This is the life of a girl about 8 years old in 1921 about. She’s 20 when she gets separated from her family and gets sent to a concentration camp and her struggle to escape and survive. How was life like in the 1920’s for people in Yugoslavia and that area. Any websites I can find research on. Thanks

Research the history of Yugoslavia concentrating on the 1920’s. A lot of sites don’t have the history of YUGOSLAVIA because it is not longer under that name. Most any Eastern European countries will give you a picture of the typical family conditions..

That is what authors have to research to write books. I recently read The Fig Eater. A very remarkable book about turn of the century Vienna. The author spent 8 months researching her subject before writing a single word. All part of the author’s job.

Why would you ask total strangers at YA anyway? If I told you that the people in Yugoslavia in the 1920’s dressed like clowns and rode around in little cars - 20 at a time - would you write that?

You are expecting to skip a very important part in the writing process - the part that puts realism in your work. It is what takes a fake story and gives it life. Any agent or publisher will know immediately if you have just made things up. You are sitting in front of the most powerful tool ever created on earth for gathering information — the internet. Learn to use it. Google is the author’s best friend. Pax-C

first off she would be older than 20 by the time she would enter the concentration camps(as they were not around in 1933. You are gonna have to google alot of history books to get a correct perspective and timeline that works otherwise you are writing fantasy.
