Robin Hobb’s Liveship Traders series is one of the best fantasy trilogies I’ve ever read.
Jaqueline Carey’s Kushiel books are the best fantasy/romance I’ve ever read. They’re almost dirty, but the beauty of her use of the english language adds a lot of class to the sex.

I have answered this question so many times, I decided to dedicate a web site to answer this question. Here it is:
Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, a short review of each book along with a brief summary of adult content. There is also a “Readers’ Choice” list of favorite books, and a list of heroine sorcery fantasy books.
Second, for the rest of your categories, is this:
Sorted by genre and ranked according to number of awards won. You’ll likely find no losers at the top of these lists.
I hope this helps.

I read The House at Riverton by Kate Morton yesterday. It fits in the romance and historiccal fiction genre. Also, no doubt you’ve read it, there’s Labyrinth by Kate Mosse that fits in the same genre.
