I have writers block, do you have any tips?

I’m writing a book; I keep getting stuck on certain parts. I try to write outside of the one chapter but it doesn’t help. People say to work on other writing projects. I keep a journal and write in it daily, but is that not enough? And do you have more tips?

Well my english teacher is brilliant and he always says to never give up while you have run out of ideas. He says only leave your work when you know where you can carry on later. Perhaps you can listen to some moody music and think deeply. Music always helps set the mood for the setting of a story. Good luck!

I write to and oh how I feel for you. I have horrid writers block 85% of the time. I have found laying in bed in the pitch black helps clear my mind of everything, then I start to think of the story and for me the new ideas will pop up, I also sit outside in the evening when it’s light and cool then again once it’s dark and watch the stars. I also listen to music that I think fits the flow of what I am writing. n

I hope this helps in some way.

Don’t self edit on the first draft, write like you are telling the story over a campfire without regard to spelling, grammar or plot points, just get the words down on paper.

Leave that story and come back to it. You can’t force yourself to write if you’re not in the right frame of mind.

When i had writers block is i started a new project completely different from what i was writing. It made me more determined and gave me new and better ideas.

I used to do that all the time. I have an outline, now. No matter what mood or motivation I have, I can just open the outline and pick up where I left off. I don’t take chances on inspiration. If I do get inspired, it goes right into the outline for my scheduled writing sessions later.

Sometimes “starting fresh” can only do so much. You might never finish anything with that method!

It may help if you say what kind of book you are writing, such as, fantasy, mystery, romance, or what?
