I am suffering from writers block any tips?
I am in a band and it is my turn to write the lyrics (Me and my other mates take turns writing different songs so we will have more than one style) .
Now i have written many songs before but as i sit at my notebook staring i can not get any ideas about what to write i got the idea for the song but i cant find the words.
How do i get pass this situation i am in?

Good music teaches people something. If you’ve got nothing to teach, you’ll just stare at that page forever!

Start slow. Don’t go into it thinking you will write a song. Do some word association with what you feel at the moment or about your surroundings. Just do a few descriptive words at a time, then try to connect them or find rhymes for them…things like that.
What is your strongest emotion at this time, no matter what it is? Hell, write about being blank. Good luck.

Just look at me, staring at this notebook.
Its my turn now, and i’m letting everyone down
oh what do i do, what do i do now…
that could be a start

whenever i have some sort of conflict with someone, it seems like the words just flow out and seem poetic. kind of implausible, i know, but it works. what also works well is stay up as late as you can and just write freeform. you can clean it up later after you sleep.

Start a conversation with a stranger and then do something you’ve never done before. It’ll make you think of something you want to talk about, or just write about the moment, or something you wish you had said. It works for me.

Do a lot of things that can distract you. Don’t think about the song you have to write. As you are thinking about something other than the song you have to write, the topic and the lyrics of the song will automatically come to you. When writing a song, the worst thing you could do is wait for the perfect idea to hit you, because it won’t I hope this answer helps and you have a very Merry Christmas.
