I am starting to write a Historical Fiction. where to start?
I am writing a Historical Fiction taking place when Rome was in transition from Paganism to Catholicism and I have the story line lied out, but I don’t know where to start with research … I have so many books to read through … I need to read up on the Roman gods, architecture, etc … but how do I condense all this information so it is readily available when I am writing?
Tips would be so helpful.
Thank You so much!

Research research research…
More research. Our first historical fiction took us 6 months of pure research before we started writing. Then as you write you have epiphanies and must do more research. Key-word phrases in search engines helped us; we wrote to several historical societies with websites for not only old photographs, articles and such, but also they assisted with editing the first manuscript to test it for authenticity; offer them a mention in your ‘dedication’ page for such a service.
The research is worth it. Good luck.
