I am a double major in Communications and Creative Writing in college. I’m in the general communications major
Do you think I will have a hard time finding a job after I graduate? I suppose the Creative Writing degree will show that I can can write, but it’s more focused on novel and poetry writing. My brother says I messed up and that I should have double major in communications and marketing, but I originally went to school for creative writing. What do you think?

It depends on the type of job you want. Unfortunately, there are not a great deal of jobs for writers. It’s more of a free lance type occupation and you often have to take another job to support yourself while you are writing.

Take it from another creative writing major who’s had very little trouble getting interviews for marketing positions: unless you’re trying to get a job with a major firm that only hires people with business school degrees, employers just care that you can write and can do whatever else they ask of you. They don’t care what your background is. You can boost your odds of getting a good position right out of school by doing internships, volunteer work, or extracurriculars that relate to what you want to do, but you should be okay.
