For me it depends on what I’m writing about. What is the essay about? Can you watch a movie or read something relevant to it?
I write lyrics and when I get writer’s block I listen to music. All sorts, not just one genre or band. It works well for me.

I usually take a walk outside…or eat a lot of chocolate lol.

i think you should allow yourself to doze off and let your mind process everything that you’ve already written.

You should think about the issue from another point of view.
An example being that many “pro-life” people would never adopt an older child. What do they think happens to these kids? Many pro-choice people choose to adopt. Seems kind of backwards huh. Ask pro-life people why they never adopted children. That will get the old brain turning.
