How do you know that a poem you have written is good enough to submit for music to be added to it?

I have written lots of poems and have had some published. How would you know if a poem is good enough to have music added to it? Where would you go to find this out?

Just decide for yourself. Imagine what kind of music it would be and how it would sound, and what genre. If you know how to write music just do it yourself, but if not then find someone who’s really good with music – like a friend that’s in a band or something, or look on the Internet – and ask them if they’ll put music to it. Just make sure that they put music that goes with your poem, so that’s it’s not accidentally an upbeat tune with sad lyrics or vice versa.

Read some of the lyrics of songs you like and you will get an idea. You must also know some musicians that could sit and jam with some of your poems to see if there is something there.
