How do you get rid of writer’s block?

I’ve been kind of getting writer’s block lately. Anything inspirational I can do? Please give me reasonable answers, I hate when people answer just for points. Thanks! :)
Thanks guys.. erm, the problem is that I can’t think of what to write! so thanks but I don’t think I can really just write more and more and more…
But I will try.

I usually will let go of whatever I’m trying to write. Then I switch to something else I enjoy. I especially like going to a mall or coffee shop and people watch. To inspire myself I usually listen to music and let my imagination drift as the music plays.

Hope that works for you! Good luck.

    Jam.
    Let it all free
Listen to music that gets you loose
    Have fun
    and then write

i’m not sure if there is any specific way to get rid of it, but sometimes you have to just take a break from what your writing and take your mind off it for a while, a few hours at least. thats what i do anyway

THIS IS A SERIOUS ANSWER!!! Write some more, and then some more, and filter the brilliant from the good from the garbage — and there will be some garbage that any decent writer will recognize in their own work. OR, go back to something good you’ve written and figure out why you liked it, or why others liked it. Aim for the same effect it had, but not the same topic or point.

your creative mind is like a battery, writer’s block can sometimes be a way of your brain telling you that you need to recharge. walk away, take a break, work on someting else. Also don’t be afraid to write crap. just because you write it down doesn’t mean you have to keep what you wrote, but sometimes that will help clear the clutter or even evolve into something that isn’t crap.

Anyone who writes has this, it is very common, even Stephen King has had it, and you don’t get any more prolific then he is !!!!!

This will sound dumb; I know it before I say it, but just sit down and write. Be prepared tp throw it away, but we can’t always afford to go out on a spending spree or a vacation or a drinking binge to try and find inspiration. Sit down and write. This is the hard part of being a writer — writing when you don’t “feel” anything. It’s what makes this a job and a hard one. Turn the music off, take off the head phones, grab a pad and pencil (they don’t have internet access) and start.

I find that it helps to “shock the system.”

I put down the pen and get out of the house. I find that it helps to go to some place that I’ve never been to. Maybe drive out of town for the day or take a hike in a place I’ve never been before. One time, I got on a city bus, rode it to the end of the line and back, just to see what there was to see.

Maybe take a walk at midnight around your town and see it in a totally different way.

Get home and write down what you just experienced, how you felt about it, and what you learned from it. Don’t try to write the thing you started out with at all. Then put your new writing away and return to your original project. Repeat as necessary. Even if you never finish the orginal project, the new stuff is often pretty good too.

New sensory input is needed to kick start the creative process.

You lock up if you try too hard. Let the mind do the thinking and record it. One guy got a movie and a book that way. It’s was on youtube, “Conversations with God.” They may still be there. It’s the same technique different message and you’ve got it. The subconscious has no end of fantasy and great ideas reached through intuition ie. all those ignored irrational thoughts. actually they are supremely rational. As Einstein said, “If and idea doesn’t seem wrong at first then there’s no hope for it.” Who would have thought a kid wicca would even pass parental scrutiny, but not we have the richest women in the world, is it? Do I get a percentage?

    Make an outline.

I take a long shower in which I just let my mind wander to whatever it wants to. Then, when I get out I get a piece of paper and pen and just start writing the first thing that comes to mind. Usually it will be a description of the fantasy landscape I’ve created. I’ll describe it from the point of view of one character and then switch to the point of view of another character. I make sure to use lots of descriptive language and just let my mind wander in whatever way it wants to go.

    Hope this helps!

Take a walk around the block.

Go see a play or movie.

Have a cup of coffee at a cafe’.

Do some day dreaming somewhere away from the books.

    Get some strenuous exercise.

When you go to bed at night, place a tape recorder or a note book near your bedside, so when you wake up with a brilliant idea you can immediately record it. Go back to sleep and mull it over in the morning.
