How do you define the difference between fantasy and science fiction?
I know what the difference is when I read it, but how do you spell out the exact difference?

Science fiction is a form of fantastical literature. Science fiction is possible because it is based on facts, even if it isn’t likely. For example science fiction could be robots, fifth dimension or alien invasions.
Fantasy is things that aren’t scientifically possible, like talking animals, or some one who is immortal.
In short,
Science fiction stories COULD BE POSSIBLE. Fantasy IS very IMPOSSIBLE

Science fiction consists of stories in which one or more scientific notions or theories or actual discoveries are extrapolated, played with, in a non-logical or fictional sense, and thus carried beyond the realm of the immediately possible into distance future.
Fantasy, on the other hand doesn’t need any basis, scientific or otherwise. It is free flow of imaginations about anything in the world.

I second Hera Andora.
I’m a fan of both but I still checked out wiki and it said pretty much the same thing!
