Yeah, try to take your mind off of it in anyway you can, like the last person said do something different but fun.
Also, you could try just starting by copying the beginning of someone else’s work (obviously change that part before publication) then once you get into it let your own mind take over eventually and start writing.
Try to not start by rereading what you’ve already written (if you do.) Don’t censor yourself just write or type whatever comes into your head, a description of an object, whatever. Let it grow from there.
There’s a book called “The Artist’s Way” that may help with this.
The core of the author’s method is what she calls the “day pages”. The idea is that you write three pages of anything you can think of – doesn’t have to be good or cohesive or suspenseful or even interesting. You can write about taking the trash out and how your coffee tastes and on and on. Just as long as you write 3 pages. Sort of a mental dump.
I’ve done this just because, and it really can be refreshing.
