Historical Fiction Books about Louis XV, French court?
I’m looking for good historical fiction books about Louis XV of France and/or the French court. I love Jean Plaidy’s books about the English court, but I haven’t found any books about the French court. Thanks in advance!

Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Dangerous Liaisons), by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. (Note it was published in the 1780s, so it is more straight fiction than historical fiction–but you may find a good translation of it, and should definitely watch the movie, starring John Malkovich, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Glenn Close.) It’s a hell of a read and filled with wonderfully despicable people.

It’s tough to find historical fiction about Louis XV, except as an older character. Abundance: A Novel of Marie Antoinette, by Sena Jeter Naslund is one of these featuring (but not starring) Louis XV. Too bad that Jean’s Louis the Well-Beloved is currently out of print. Good luck!
