It takes focus. I always jumped in like that in my younger years. I didn’t actually finish my first novel until I was 22 when I put my mind to it and told myself that I could do it.
I know this isn’t what you were looking for but it’s not magic that you can suddenly say, kabam and it’s done. Take it one scene at a time. Describe that scene with both dialogue and description then move on to the next. Go to bed thinking about what your next scene will be and what will come after that. It takes practice and focus.

Future, it doesn’t sound like writer’s block to me, not at all. It sounds like your creative process (we’re all different) demands more planning, since you sputter to a stop when you’re ‘free writing’ without a blueprint.
Write yourself a detailed outline, synopsis, index cards for each scene, or some other master plan for the whole story before you start the writing itself. You won’t run out of ideas that way.
As you write, following that plan, you’ll still get new ideas, and that’s great. But make yourself a rule that you can only follow those new ideas after you revise your master plan to incorporate them.
Try this once. It works.

It takes time develop an idea for writing purposes. It demand read, think–develop the idea in your mind– read again and write some ideas and write it again … be efficient with your self and never give up …

yes, i used to get the same thing!!! thick up a great story get half way through and get blocked. one of the things to do is to plot your story out on paper. Use mind maps, list characters, write your entire plot in detail, plot out the chapters. that why you know where your going and can’t get blocked, because it’s all been planned before hand. it really worked for me. Good luck
