From a medical standpoint, is this possible and has it ever happened?
I was watching a rerun of CSI last night where a teenage girl fantasizes about being pregnant, and due to hormone pills, her body reacted by lactating and her uterus expanding, etc even though there was no intercourse involved. Is this science fiction or can something like that really happen?

Yes. Many woman have been absolutely convinced they were pregnant, only to find out they weren’t. Worrying and stressing can cause you to create symptoms in your mind. Gaining weight, periods stopping, fetal movement(imagined), breast growth, and lactation (rare, but it’s happened.)

Yes it can happen. It happened to my step mom. She wanted a baby so bad that her body started acting like she was pregnant. She formed a placenta and had all the signs. They never could find a heartbeat so they did an early ultra sound and there never was a baby. Research it online you’ll find other cases.

That is strange but i gave heard of rare stories of lactation on adoptive mothers I would only believe it if I see it

I have heard that this can really happen, you trick yourself into thinking you are pregnant and your body acts as though it is really pregnant. I don’t know what it is really called though and how true it is, that is just what I have heard.

Yes, and they can even have labor pains. In fact, Mary Tudor, a British Queen in the 1500s had one.

I don’t know about those signs like lactating and the uterus expanding. But the mind is a powerful thing it can cause other pregnancy signs like sore nipples and nausea.

A lot of things on CSI are not really possible. They are kind of neat to watch but it is just entertainment. So as far as being pregnant you can’t be without sex but I think it is possible for your body to act like it is in some ways.

I dont personally know anyone but my mother in law has told me about it. Its kinda like a mind game that they are playing with themselves and their body. They kinda trick themselves to think whats not true.

Yes. Your mind convinces your body that you are pregnant and therefore your body kicks into “pregnancy mode”. You stop menstrating, produce hCG, and you feel like you are pregnant. It’s called a “phantom pregnancy”. It’s rare but it does happen.
