Does anyone know how you can sell your poetry?

I write poetry, and I have submitted them into contests. I’ve got an award for one piece but I want a way to sell them to get them out into the world.

  1. Professor Longhair Says:

Go to your library. Look for the books Writer’s - and/or Poet’s Market. These books will refer you to various publications that accept unsolicited manuscripts, the editors to contact, guidelines and how much, if anything, they pay.

How about electronic publishing, such as this?

  3. Dancing Bee Says:

    Go to

There you can sort on a list of magazines that publish poetry and how much they pay.

Don’t go the self-publishing route as one of the other answerers has suggested. It is the equivalent of becoming a Vogon ship captain to your friends and family. You will force them to listen and buy your poetry, no one else will ever read it and you will spend your money to do it. If you have the chops, then prove it, go publish in legitimate venues and not vanity or self-publishing.
