Do you think there is a niche in the market for science fiction comedies?
Do you think there are many science fiction comedy films around and do you think these two types of genres blend well together?

No, sci-fi film junkies like the possibility of the technology coming true in the future. Some comedy intermingled is alright, but not a sci-fi comedy movie.

yes
most sci-fi have some type of comedy.
from the cat in Alien to (very poor) film hitchhikers guide (stick with the books, radio and TV prog).
comedy and horror/sci-fi work, if and only if it is done well.

There’s a market for anything as long as its good. Who would have thought that people would want to see a 3 hour romantic disaster movie like Titanic? Or what about the harry potter movies? They’re all hits. Write what you want and then find out how to market it.

It is very rare for a sci-fi comedy to be successful.
You could literally count all the money-making sci-fi comedies to come out in the last 15 years on just two hands.
Men In Black and Back To the Future are two of the examples of this genre.

Yes, but a very small one.

Does the name Douglas Adams mean anything? He wrote “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”
How about Kurt Vonnegut, Jr? “Slaughterhouse Five” and others?

back to the future, ghostbusters, galaxy quest……sci-fi is inherently mockable, and considering how popular some sci-fi comedies are, i wouldnt even call it a niche
