Traditional Japanese Winter Wear (Pre-WWII Era)?

I’m writing up a little bit of fiction for NaNoWriMo and intend to make it as legit as possible. Now, I know that kimonos and the like made out of silk, hemp, or even cotton can get pretty chilly in the winter months, so I was wondering what type of clothing was worn during the cold winter months in Japan while traditional clothing was still in fashion.

So I wrote a 50000 word novel for last year’s NaNoWriMo. I’m redrafting it now and finshing the ending. Something doesn’t seem right about the beginning. Too cheesy? Boring? Not a good start? Advice pleeeease! I’m in desperate need of another reader.

Writer’s block. Help?

I’m doing NaNoWrimo this year and I have a goal: 20, 000 words by tonight. I’m currently at 17,628 and I desperately need some help overcoming my writer’s block. There is, I must add, no available caffeine, so really. Any simple routine or something I could do? Thanks!

Fiction: 1st person vs. 3rd person?

I am beginning to write a story, having been sucked into NaNoWriMo by a friend. I’m inclined to write in first person, but so few novels are.

Hypothetically, would any of you Answerers, as potential readers, put down a book because it was written in first person? Is that so much of a turn-off? Should I go with the norm and write in third?

Teenage marriage in South Carolina (or any state, really)?

I’m writing for NaNoWriMo and my female main character is pregnant, about 5 months. She’s 15. Her boyfriend is 19 (but he’s not the father, loooonnnggg story). I’m under the impression South Carolina allows for teen marriages if the girl is pregnant, but would they still need parental consent? And are there any other states this scenario would work in? Thanks.
Yeah, hi Fat Man, I’m FEMALE and I put a disclaimer in my post saying I’m writing a novel.

I’m Writing a book. Any advice?

I’m writing a book for a competition ( Nanowrimo.org ) where you must write a 50,000 word novel in one month. six days in and I already have serious writers block. It’s stressful having to write a whole novel in a month ]: Any good advice?

NaNoWriMo won’t show my “Novel Info”?

When I press “My NaNoWriMo” and I click “Novel Info” there’s this::

I don’t understand. It says I have 1,425 words so far, yet I don’t see it.
And I go to my friend’s NaNoWriMo, and I can read her story just fine…
Can anyone explain this – do you have the same problem, what can I do to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Nanowrimo Writers?

So how are all the Nanowrimo’s doing out there? TEN days to go! Anybody finish yet? I quit for the night just shy of 40K. How many of you think you are going to win? I’m giving myself three more days to finish. Anybody else close?
Congrats to you. Mine is called Hope is a Thing With Feathers. I plan on editing it after December into a full length book. Just using Nano to get down the basic first draft. I expect it to end up at about 100k
This is my first try too Isthis… Thinking is good too. Now get typing. You have ten whole days. Just don’t eat too much turkey and fall asleep on Thanksgiving. That is what I am afraid of. Turkey makes you sleepy.

What kind of chemicals are used in carpet?

Okay, so I am writing a novel right now, and I have a chaaracter who has to sell an RV because of something he is allergic to. I was thinking it would be a chemical in the carpet, but realy any type of chemical used in an RV that someone could be allergic to would work.
