Who gets copyrights for a non-fiction work?

Do you get them yourself or does the publishers get them? For photos. For example, a famous sports photo. Would I have to supply copyright info or would the publishers do that for me? Also how do non-fiction works’ sources get cited? Author or publisher?
I should’ve said obtain copyrights. I have no idea about writing books. It’s just an idea I have. I’m not going to start anything until I have more information on these kinds of things.

Why shouldn’t pro-wrestling be looked at as a legitimate sport?

Wrestlers put on an athletic show but it’s dismissed as not a real sport since the stories told are a work of fiction. Yet figure skating, cheerleading, and gymnastics all have routines which are planned in advance and preformed. All three are widely considered a sport. Shouldn’t wrestling also? And be covered by sport’s journalists?

And since they are open how it is a work of fiction, this invalidates the claim that it could be fake. It can only be fake if presented as a real competition and not make believe. It’s just fictitious.

Getting a book published?

I have what I believe is a good idea for a non-fiction “season in the life” type sports book. The story will be more compelling a year from now and I am wondering how to go about seeing if any publishers may have interest.

Can anyone with experience tell me how to get started? Anything from who I would contact at the various publishers to see who to send my submission to and what to include in my proposal. Any type of protocol really.

Clearly I have very little experience in this realm, any further advice would be appreciated.

I need a nonfiction or fiction book that centers around a sport. HELP!

It has to:
A. center on the role sports play within a high school
or.
B.center on the relationship between sports, economics, and politics.
I loved Friday Night Lights… but it has to be another book. Thanks to everyone who put that down! It’s amazing!

good sports books?

I’m wondering…what are some good sports books to read? I prefer anything related to football, but I’ll take anything on Baseball, College Basketball, and Hockey(if you know any good ones.)

I would also prefer that these books be based on actual events, not fiction.

Teen fiction for a boy, suggestions please?

Please suggest books for my 14 year old son.

He has read the SE Hinton books and wants something similar to Outsiders, Rumble Fish and That Was Then This is Now.

No Harry Potter or Sci Fi or Sports.

Please include title and author.

Thanks in advance.
No..no..no.. I am not banning books!!
My son is not a big fan of reading, however he discovered that he loved the SE Hinton books and so I am trying now to keep him interested in reading by finding more of the same genre/style.

I loooove to read, I would never ban books.
