Juvenile Fiction’

This is a long shot but.do you know the name of this book?

It’s a juvenile fiction book about a teenage girl who is abused by her father and her mother won’t stand up for her. She winds up pregnant (I don’t think by the father, just a boyfriend or something) and runs away. She moves to another town and either stays at a hotel or a home for unwed mothers, I can’t remember. She gets a job working at a restaurant, where the owner of the restaurant is obsessed with the color red! lol She becomes close friends with the owner, as well as her so-workers. I know this sounds stupid but it was like a favorite book of mine when I was a pre-teen, I just don’t remember the name! I have a feeling I’m not gonna get the answer, but I thought I’d try anyways. Thanks guys!!

What is the title of book about a boy who can control fire?

I am trying to remember the title of a book I read several years ago. There is a whole series about a boy who is able to control fire. In the novel he is one of the last people who are able to do this. I also recall something about the boy having a telepathic link with some animal (I think it was a horse).

The book is probably classified as either “young adult” or “juvenile” fiction.

And for some reason the word “firestorm” comes to my mind, but this is not the title of the book.

Thanks in advance for any help you are able to give, this is really bugging the crap out of me.

Using photos for book cover?

I would like to write a book (juvenile fiction). I would like to use my sister’s image on the cover. Legally and professionally, how do I do this? For one she is underage, so if I get my mother’s persmission, how do I pay her fairly? And do I have to copywright the photo? Is there anything that can NOT be used as a book cover for art? Thanks for answering.

What is the best means of finding a publisher to publish a book in the juvenile fiction genre?

I am in the process of writing a juvenile fiction book. I would like to find a publisher, but really do not know where to start. There are so many websites and places on the internet, it is hard to know what are legitimate and what are not. I would like to find a publisher that I can be in regular contact with and not just communicating through impersonal emails.

What are some good ways to think up a story idea?

I want to write a story, I always want to, but have never finished an idea and now I can’t even think of one at all. What are some good ways that I can come up with creative and smart ideas? Like what are some exersizes I can do that make me understand what I want. I am a terrible procrastinator, and am stuck in a ditch. I like stories that are completely fictional, but are really smart. I’m reading Lord of the Flies right now, and am half way through and I already love it. It’s fictional yet smart. I also like the Neverending Story. I can’t really explain that one, it’s like juvenile fiction for older people. It’s a childish plot but an older vocabulary and it’s really long. What kind of an eight year old wants to read a 400 page book? Anyway, I want to think of a smart, creative fictional story idea if there are any exersizes that can help with that at all. Yeah, I’m picky. Any way, thanks in advance for any one who helps out!
I found something to write about, now I just have to put together what happens and all that. The Wanaque UFO, I used to live in the next town over, my cousins live in wanaque, and my best friends live in the two towns surrounding it, so I know a lot about how to describe how things look..now. But not in the 60’s. Anyway, I’m gonna of corse change some things to make it more interesting but keep what happened there. I’m gonna add someone meeting an alien and everything. Okay, I’ve talked enough b.c its cold and my fingers are slowly moving xD. Thank you all!

Does anyone recognize these books (horse novels)?

I remember reading what I think was a series of Christian novels where the main character was a horse-crazy girl who lived out on a ranch. I know she had a Dad, but I think her Mom wasn’t around for some reason. I also remember some conflict, possibly surrounding a theft… ransom… kidnapping… SOMETHING! Also, I’m sure there was some romantic aspects. This is juvenile fiction, so it probably was nothing more than a girl having a crush on a guy. I know this isn’t much to go on…but I’m completely blocked! ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!
Oh, FYI…these books I’m speaking of would have been in the early 80’s (my early teen years). Probably were quite new then.
So far none are the ones I’m speaking of…not “Miranda & Starlight,” don’t sound like the Snelling books, & not Farley either. Thanks for the suggestions so far though. I hope someone comes up with it!
In the meantime, maybe the library’s juvenile section would be a good place to look…or Half Price Books… :)

Why do I keep seeing this verse?

Ever since I met this boy, I have been seeing Ecclesiastes 3:1 everywhere. It was in the dedication of two books I’ve read and in a chapter of another one (these were 3 different authors, and the books were not religious books, they were juvenile fiction). I opened a Bible to a random page and there it was. I’m really confused… Is there a meaning to this?

Looking for excellent history books to serve as a memorial. Any ideas?

My friend just passed away, and I’m looking for a few exceptional history books to buy for our local library in her memory. She was a fan of Arthurian Legend, Courtly Love, and kings and queens of the middle ages. I have a few ideas, but I was wondering what others would think.

They can be adult or juvenile, and even fiction. But no trash please, I am being sincere here.

Thanks.
Thanks for the info I already knew about King Arthur. Was that an answer for another question?

Also, I don’t have an MLS but I work at this local branch. I’m brainstorming for ideas here, and I’m quite familiar with the collection.

is this ok for a book report introduction?

Introduction
The wonderful book I will be talking about is called Holes. It was written by Louis Sachar a famous and wonderful author, and published by Scholastic Inc. Also the books copyright date was ©1998.In addition the book has won numerous awards such as the Newberry Medal which was on the front cover, The National Book Award, The Boston Globe-Horn Book Award, The Christopher Award for Juvenile Fiction, and several more! My thinking of the book was that it was one of the best books I’ve read. Plus the genre was adventure and it was 233 pages long
