Can someone recommend a good science fiction or fantasy book?
it has to be at least 300 pages long, and it has to be one which hasn’t been adapted to a movie.

Pretty much science fiction, some fantasy and romance as well. About 650 pages long. Very good book!

Greg Bear’s “Eon”. Its over 300 pages and has not been made into a movie. Its a science fiction book dealing with a large round asteroid that approaches earth.

Try a Terry Pratchett, and not his early stuff. Mort is a screenplay. Reaperman or anything later.

The caretaker trilogy is a new series of books and each book is about 300 pages long. They are sci-fi books. If that does not work you can try any of the star trek books which are great

As far as I know, there are no movies.
Fantasy:
Ghosts In The Snow, by Tamara Siler Jones (forensic fantasy)
Dhampir, by Barb and JC Hendee (a good vampire book, not the ridiculous Twilight stuff)
Anansi Boys, by Neil Gaiman (Stardust sucks, so this is not some cheesy excuse for a book)
Science Fiction:
Idlewild, by Nick Sagan (end of the world, virtual reality, etc)
