Can someone give me some tips on how to write good free verse poetry?

I have visited sites and I still can’t write free verse poetry. It’s not helping me; I know I have to rhyme, but just giving me examples won’t help me. Can someone give me some tips on how to write free verse poetry-I’m supposed to be writing about a life story.

    its a free verse poem
meaning it does not have to have any rhyme
its free, so you write using your emotions, its a life story, honesty in writing and using simple words would help you get the point
write what you really feel and think within
thats how you write a free verse, you dont think of the rules ( just the grammar rules of course) write with honesty, and do enjoy it and not think of it as something that need to get done.

You have to find your comfort zone. Some people need candles or go to a park for insiraption. Me??? Not trying to be nasty but I do my best thinkning while taking a dump or when i have a little liquor in me. Its all about how you feel … and when your mind is most open.

don’t be afraid of NOT rhyming when you write a free verse poem.. my advice would be to start with a certain word or phrase that you feel has POWER… something that nuts the reader right in the face…. then find the words that come from the certain emotion that the word or phrase and just stream your consciousness out onto the paper but forceful or gentle but leave all the emotion out on the page… don’t get caught up in rhythm it will come naturally if you just tap into your heart and soul…. anyone can do it… the hardest part is finding that place in you to bring it all out… don’t worry, write, and then read it… give it some time and then read it again… if you don’t like then you can rubbish it but i guarantee you will like it better the second time round… remember its your word play so don;t concern yourself if it is good or bad… it will always be good….good luck

Its hard to write poetry unless you have some inspiration going i write best when I’m kinda manic (I’m Bipolar). – Look at the first answer you got. Start asking friends especially ones with the same assignment – a good buddy should help you out a little
