Absolute poetry. Stop and listen, silly bickering. Missed the whole emotional experience of the music.

I love this version of the song. It has a powerful tone to it.

In the end it’s all about you satisfying your spiritual needs. Many people don’t require this anymore and that’s healthy. Logic and scientific understanding are rapidly destroying such primitive beliefs and traditions. Your initial comments shows your need for finding affirmation for your personal beliefs even when the video has nothing at all to do with what you initially though. Trying to defend such an ambiguous version of what you though Paganism was is always futile.

Picking some non factual and ambiguous version on an old religion in no way excludes you from the same scrutiny.
Either way you stray from subject faster than the Catholic Church when asked about sexual abuse.

Ok, so ancestors for you means a specific groups of people that fit your personal “religion”. How original lol.
“Pagan religions were pretty peaceful” – Many pre-Christian religions engaged in human sacrifice. The Wicker Man alone is a great example of human sacrifice by priests of Celtic paganism.
It seems you like to cherry-pick stuff from a romantic mental image you have of ancient druids, but deny the non-rosy parts. Much like all religious people.

Btw, i think you are blowing things a bit up, i didn’t mean to offend anyone or so ever.

My gods, what a prejudice. Actually sacrificing stopped pretty early. Even the semitic religions(Christianity, Islam & Judaism), had their sacrificial times. In islam there is even selfsacrifice now (Suicidecommandos). Pagan religions were pretty peaceful. Christians burnt Witches. And all religions had a time of sacrificing. What matters the most, are the priniciples. And the semitic religions are very dogmatic and uneuropean in roots.

“But it says pagan in the title, and church, so i laughed a bit. I meant it was cool to hear something referring to our ancestors, in something that denies our ancestors; a church.”
No point in answering this as it’s just shows how idiotic any further discussion would be.

How can you mock your ancestors? Are you talking about the ones that burned witches and sacrificed animals and humans to so called gods? Or maybe more recent ones that ignored treatment of the Jews before, during and after ww2. Could be the ones that took part in slavery? I’m guessing it’s the ones that passed down their prejudice, hate and superstitions.
And yes, all religions are equally absurd.
March 19th, 2010 at 11:36 pm
It is not the same. Asatru is the religion of our ancestors. How can you mock your ancestors? You just even said, all religions are equal… I’m not saying asatru is better or worse than Christianity. But it says pagan in the title, and church, so i laughed a bit. I meant it was cool to hear something referring to our ancestors, in something that denies our ancestors; a church.

WOW! That was very powerful performance. Great.
I love her, I love her…

As for this Ásatrú.. it’s a super vague made up “religion” that menopausal women like to say they belong to. It’s role-play. I’d not tell people you’re into this stuff as you will be laughed at.
Like saying you’re into being Wicca or Druidism LOL.

What has your or any other religion to do with the song? Please explain the connection and why you would make your post.
You seem to think some religions are better than others. You know all are equally silly and redundant don’t you?

mcallen83: I know this isn’t all about a pagan revival. But still in Iceland, they know their gods. All of the other Germanic deities in all other Germanic countries seem to be forgotten, yet they are so alive. I know what my religion, Asatru, is all about.

Yes but heard Thor the Norse God of Thunder loves it!
March 20th, 2010 at 2:06 am
Metaldude1945 good job on completely missing the point of the whole song. It has nothing to do with the religion.
Also keep role playing on whatever you think Paganism is, not that it has a thing to do with the song.

And if they don’t?

Ah, Pagan Poetry… I feel tiny hairs stand up on my arms, and my skull and face begin to tingle; this song is true magic. First time I heard it, I was in a friend’s house who was in the shower; I was sitting in the living room watching TV and struggling to stop sobbing to avoid being seen crying hysterically. Bjork is one of the BEST artists on earth. I’ve loved her since high school, and I’m nearly 30 now. lol I would do anything to meet her… And even moreso; sing with her!
Love, Amy
